One surprising departure this week from Elland Road came when Leeds United confirmed on Wednesday that young centre-half Aapo Halme had now left on a permanent deal and joined fellow Championship side Barnsley.
Having joined us from HJK Helsinki back in the January 2018 window, Halme went on to make five senior appearances for our first team, returning one goal.

The transfer is for an undisclosed fee, but unless I’ve missed something I certainly didn’t see this one coming given his performances for Carlos Corberan’s side in particular last year, yet alone his at least, semi regular appearances on the bench at times for manager Marcelo Bielsa.
I think most assumed he would continue to provide cover this coming season or simply get a loan spell out to maybe a League One side to further his development and experience.
Plenty of fans were surprised on social media, and in wishing him well for the future and number wondered if this was the right move for us as the Hugo Diaz departure was strange enough for many.
Good luck for the future Halme!

Very disappointed in this one. Thought Halme had plenty of potential
